Happy Friday!
One of my bucket list vacations is to see Yellowstone National Park. Most of which is due to the flourishing wolf population. Though also Yellowstone has so many natural wonders, it is difficult to fathom that they exist in one place. Since we're all stuck where we are, I thought it would be nice to have a visit. Personally I'm looking forward to the Mammoth Hot Springs. Click below to see more! Hello from Library Land!
Which is technically my couch, but still, books are on my brain. I've been following a lot of publishers and companies who deal with ebooks or audiobooks lately. (Big surprise there, right?) One of the most recent company to offer free access is Junior Library Guild. These folks are fantastic at their jobs. I mean, they're super qualified to do what they do. Those of you who have had me know what I'm talking about; when evaluating your sources make sure they're qualified. At any rate, enjoy FREE ebooks and audiobooks for you entertainment by clicking on the image above! ![]() Hey Hey Hey! I hope everyone is feeling fantastic on what was a warmer Tuesday. I wanted to pass along this fun Harry Potter themed digital escape room. It was originally designed by Sydney Krawiec, Youth Services Librarian at Peters Township Public Library in McMurray, PA. You can try and escape the room by yourself or compete against some other people in your family! Click the Hogwarts Train on your left to access it. You know I'm always in the mood for a good book. Especially one that would keep you on the edge of your seat. I know a good amount of you are fans of the I Survived series. Luckily, I have a treat for you! Here is Lauren Tarshis reading the first 2 chapters of her book I Survived The Sinking of the Titanic, 1912. Chapter 3 & 4 are also available on You Tube for you to enjoy. As always, happy reading!
![]() In some fun exercise news, the YMCA has posted videos you can enjoy for FREE. Even if you can't get outside, you should still get your blood pumping and keep that brain healthy! Check out their videos by clicking on the logo to the right. ![]() Check out the Smithsonian's catalog of virtual tours here! Not just museums, but aquariums or cultural sites too! CNN recently updated their article on all of the virtual tours you can take from around the world. It is truly glorious to see something new, and yet, something so much older than you or myself! Take a look at the list and links they provide here! One of the coolest things to come out of our current weird world we're living in is all of the new resources that people are pulling together for you! Scholastic (you know, the people who bring you our book fairs!) now offers a tool you can look through while you're at home. Click on the banner below to take a look at some of the interesting articles they are updating every day!
![]() I hope all of you are staying safe and healthy! I've been thinking a lot of the situation we're in and how I, as your friendly neighborhood librarian, can be of any help to you. For one, I know all of you were sent home with a (probably really thick) packet of work to do. I also know that you saw that packet and said "This is so much work!" I hope you know you can email your teachers, but you can also email me! You can find it to the right under my picture. So, my hope is to help in any way that I can. I plan to post something new at least once a day. I want to start with just recommending a few online resources that you can use to find e-books or audio books! Included are some online links to authors doing reading of their books. (Which is totally not a violation of copyright!) First, click on the image to the left to check out what your local library has for free reading sources you can use. *You need a library card for this, and they are currently closed. As of right now someone is there if you call during their hours!* Check out author Kate Messner's website! She is working closely with other authors to make videos of them reading their own books to you! Enjoy some new stories, and also enjoy some of the writing challenges they give you! Kate Messner will also be running a "virtual book club" stay tuned for that link coming later this week. She will be reading her book Ranger In Time |
